Autographed-Letter-Signed of George L. Willard as Colonel of the 125th New York Infantry. In this letter, written from Centerville, Virginia, on April 16, 1863, Willard makes three recommendations for promotions to fill vacancies in the offices of the 125th. The first man he recommends is Captain A. B. Myer to the position of Major. Myer would be wounded at Gettysburg and again a year later in the Wilderness, where he died from his wounds. His next recommendation was for 1st Lieut. W. K. Newcomb, who would only live another 4 months. His last recommendation was for 2nd Lieut. Benet G. Bartoe… and he managed to live. The letter is in excellent condition in nice dark ink with a fantastic Willard autograph over 3 inches long and ½ inch tall!
