Autographed-Letter-Signed of George L. Willard as Colonel of the 125^th New York Infantry.  In this letter, written from Centerville, Virginia, on April 16, 1863, Willard makes three recommendations for promotions to fill vacancies in the offices of the 125^th.  The first man he recommends is Captain A. B. Myer to the position of Major.  Myer would be wounded at Gettysburg and again a year later in the Wilderness, where he died from his wounds.  His next recommendation was for 1^st Lieut. W. K. Newcomb, who would only live another 4 months.  His last recommendation was for 2^nd Lieut. Benet G. Bartoe… and he managed to live.  The letter is in excellent condition in nice dark ink with a fantastic Willard autograph over 3 inches long and ½ inch tall!
