This Confederate common wooden style canteen is anything but common as it came directly out of an attic untouched for the past 100 years. It was purchased at an estate sale just west of Mansfield, Ohio and apparently was brought home as a souvenir by a Union soldier. When we say untouched we mean that it has never been cleaned… not even a greasy fingerprint on it! The carved inscription, “JOHN KEMP, CSA 11th REGT. TENN. V Co H,” is breath-taking! It has an original leather strap that is mostly all there, is missing various small pieces of wood here and there and has no spout. This is one for the purest who wants their artifacts to have that “certain look.” A truly amazing artifact!
