Telegraph operator W. C. Hall writes a note to Captain P. P. Pitkin, October 1st, 1863.  Writing on an official United States telegraph form, Hall requests:

“Please let the barrier

have a wagon to go for forage

 for telegraph & oblige.

             -W. C. Operator”
