A beautiful large autograph of Col. Thomas Scott Allen, who for the first 2 years of the war led the famous 2^nd Wisconsin of the Iron Brigade.  Becoming Col. of the 5^th Wisconsin in January 1863, he led that hard fighting regiment (“with distinction” according to Boatner) at Marye’s Heights, May 3, 1863 and at Gettysburg.  The partial document is signed October 1, 1863 as Col. of the 5^th Wisconsin.
