Cabinet Card of St. Michael’s Church, Charleston, S.C. – Confederate Observation Post was in its Steeple
This cabinet card was sold by Charles N. Beesley, who was sexton in the church. He would sell these to visitors back in the late 1880’s to early twentieth century. After the earthquake in August 1886, the church had to be restored and was reopened on June 19th, 1887. The history of St. Michael’s is printed on the reverse. A nice view of this famous survivor of the Civil War and earthquake.
