Great Example of Ohio’s “Squirrel Hunters Discharge” with the Seldom Seen Letter from Governor Tod that came with it
Over the years you have probably seen examples of this famous discharge issued to the volunteers, “Squirrel Hunters” that came to the defense of Ohio when Confederate Cavalry was threatening Cincinnati. This discharge was presented to A. S. Hall of Portage County, Ohio.

This is only the second example that we have seen that includes Governor Tod’s letter. Both are in fine condition with some fold marks and staining on the discharge. Most of those we have seen are quite faded from being framed… this one is a beauty, no fading at all.
