Sixth Plate Ambrotype of a Gold Miner Holding his “Tools” along with a Gold Nugget which is Pinned to the Case & What is Left of an Original I.D.: “Gold Nugget from Leadville, Col.”
If you enjoy historic photos… here is one for you. This piece was originally displayed in a wooden frame. The tag was found attached to the frame and while in two pieces is still readable. We now have the image and nugget in a Riker mount along with some photos of the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum in Leadville, Colorado.

The miner is holding a sledgehammer and pick with a river in the background. A wonderful example of this historic period in America’s history. We have not taken the nugget off the case to weight it, but then again, you are not going to be purchasing this item to melt it down!
