Signed Admiral John Dahlgren CDV "Off Charleston - 1865"

This Brady CDV personally inscribed by Admiral Dahlgren was presented to Paul Dahlgren on May 21st, 1865.  Fort Sumter had fallen and finally Admiral Dahlgren had time to breathe.  The CDV, in fine condition on the front and staining on the reverse, shows Dahlgren standing on board the “U. S. S. Pawnee” with his arm leaning on one of his 50-pounder Dahlgren rifles.  At the bottom of the CDV, Dahlgren has written, “Off Charleston – 1865”.   On the reverse is written:

May 21st 1865”
