Five long pages, written in beautiful pen ship in nice dark ink, describes the devastation of Sherman’s epic march through the Carolinas.

If you want one letter that takes you through Sherman’s march step by step describing the burning and terror that inflicted, this is it! The letter is written by Captain William R. Bennett and is headed, “Camp 143rd N.Y. Vols. near Goldsboro, N.C. March 27th, 1865.” Here is the transcription with some of the great parts underlined:


The letter is in fine condition with only a few minor flaws.
