It was this company, the Importing & Exporting Company of South Carolina whose President was William C. Bee, that had the greatest rapport and essentially sent the standards for the South Carolina Government and its relationship to blockade running companies.  Bee signs this certificate as President of the company.  The certificate is made out to Capt. James Carlin, who was in the Confederate Navy.  He purchased 15 shares on May 18, 1863.  The certificate measures 4 ¾ x 7 inches, has some “age browning”, but has nice dark ink signatures and is in fine condition!  A $2,900 value!
