Ruggles ALS After Shiloh

Written on 5 x 7 paper in dark pencil, this note all in the hand of Confederate General Daniel Ruggles is dated May 22nd, just a month after the bloody battle of Shiloh!  If you want a nice representative war-date Ruggles autograph here is a beauty!  After writing it out, it was telegraphed to a Captain Paine.

                    To Captain Paine

Provost Marshall

Grenada

Mrs. Parsons will be sent back

today in charges of Captain Paine.

You will detain her under

previous orders.

                        Daniel Ruggles

                        Brig. General

                        Commanding Dept.

May 22

Question:  Who was Mrs. Parsons? Perhaps a spy?  An interesting note priced very reasonably.

 #L30 – Price $350
