Reynolds: 10 days to live

A great pair (sold separately)– superb, bold and beautiful John F. Reynolds endorsement signed “Head Quarters 1st Corps. June 21, 1863 as Major General Commanding.”  Reynolds would be shot by a Confederate sharpshooter at Gettysburg 10 days later, July 1st.  This 3 ¼ by 3 ¼ inch Autographed Endorsement is in excellent condition.  With this great piece below is a marvelous CDV of Reynolds full waist up view, seated by R. W. Addis, Washington, D.C.  On the reverse in ink of the period, “Major Genl. Jno. F. Reynolds, killed at battle of Gettysburg, Penna., Commanded 1st Brigade P.R.V.C. under Genl. McCall.”  Most Reynolds CDV’s are only a bust shot or modified bust shot.  This view is very rare and desirable!
