Early Confederate Pass from Manassas Junction – August 13th, 1861 – “Head Quarters Camp Pickens”
This 4 ¼ x 8 inch pass filled out in nice dark ink, allows Major Kent (Joseph Ferdinand Kent, 4th Virginia Infantry) to travel “in and about the encampment until revoked”, “By order of Gen. Beauregard”. The pass is signed by Cornelius Boyle, Major Va. Forces & Provost Marshal.

Written just a copy weeks after the battle of Bull Run, this is a great piece of Virginia history. The 4th Virginia was of course part of the famous Stonewall Brigade
