Major T. Rodgers - 140th PA. Zooks Brigade - Captured!

Thomas B. Rodgers was captured in the Wheatfield on July 2, 1863.  Here is a nice example all in Rodgers hand dated
February 13, 1863 in which Rodgers seeks permission to go to Washington to answer charges preferred against him,
which he successfully did.  A nice piece from a famous Pennsylvania regiment!

                                     Sir,

                                          I respectfully ask a leave of absence for    days to
proceed to Washington City for the following purpose viz

            To appear before a commission now in session in that city, to answer
charges preferred against me, as per the accompanying paper, believing that
I can make satisfactory defense to the same.
