We attended Redding’s Auction in Gettysburg last month, where an estate of Gettysburg excavated artifacts was sold. Everything sold for mucho bucks, but we found one definite “sleeper!” In fact, we think it was one of the nicest relics there! Eckert dug extensively around the Weikert farm. When he was digging around the Spring’s Hotel area, he found this beautiful, crude SC 20A South Carolina Local button made by W. Wildt & Son, Richmond. The button has a beautiful smooth chocolate brown patina and a perfectly straight iron shank. There is just a slight push on the dome of the button.
