K.I.A. Captain 49th New York Document from Brandy Station

“Monthly Return of Clothing, Camp and Garrison Equipage
Received and issued at Camp near Brandy Station, Va.
        by E. D.
Holt Capt., commanding
Co. I, 49th Regt. N.Y. Vols. during the
month of
       April, 1864.

One month later, Erastus D. Holt would be wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Va. and one year later killed at Petersburg, Va.  During the next year, Holt would also become Colonel of the regiment.

This document is actually 8 pages, in “booklet” form.  It is great because it shows all the clothing (including Ostrich feathers for the hat) and camp and garrison equipment (like Camp Colors, Bugles and Fifes).

Document is in excellent condition, dated at Brandy Station, Va., May 2, 1864 and signed in ink by Holt.  A great piece of Civil War history!
