After the Horrible December 1861 Charleston Fire, the State of Ga. Sends Help -
Two Letters Gov. Brown of Ga. & Gov. Pickens of S.C.!
This lot consists of two important letters. In the first South Carolina Governor Pickens writes Governor Brown thanking him for the state of Georgia’s generous gift of $100,000 to help the decimated city of Charleston. This letter is dated January 13th, 1862. In the second letter, Gov. Joseph Brown response to Pickens and again expresses sympathy to the people of Charleston.
A wonderful pair of letters from the two Governors! Both are LS (Letter Signed) and are in fine condition with minor staining. Governor Brown writes on one page and Gov. Pickens on two separate pages so that the pair could be framed with the both Governors signatures easily displayed! A wonderful historic pair!
