Museum Quality Americana
On the back of this image of a house, is the following inscription, “House at which I lay wounded after Antietam in 1862. Nichodemius Mills, Maryland.” “In the hand of Brig. Gen. Samuel Wylie Crawford. He was wounded at Antietam. From his album.” We have compared the hand writing to Crawford’s and it is definitely his. The condition of the photo is only fair, with several repaired tears. It has a great overall “look” to it. You can even see children sitting on the front steps and a man with his arm raised down in the basement. There is an oval hotel sign on the second story. A CDV with real character for the Antietam collector!
