At least it sure looks like a father and his son!  In this pair of sixth plate tintypes housed in a patriotic thermoplastic case, both are armed with Austrian Lorenz Rifles, have bayonets in their belt and the Father holds a sword.  A great looking pair “going off for war.”  The son looks to be no older than 16!
