Interesting Button Excavated in Fredericksburg – An English Import
This is a great example of a commercial “hunt” type button made in England. Since it was found along with other Confederate artifacts near Fredericksburg, it no doubt was used by a soldier who needed buttons. The button is 1 inch and features a stag deer with full antlers on the front. On the reverse is the maker “Benedict & Burnham – Extra”. The loop is straight and the patina, a beautiful brown/green is perfect. A great button for display.
