In the past 40 years we have only seen two other Ellsworth Zouave Membership Certificates.  The certificate measures 11 x 13 inches and is printed on cardstock in red, blue and black ink.  Ten years ago we were offered $5,000 for this piece, but the collection was not for sale at that time.  The Ellsworth Certificate has to be one of the most desirable pieces of ephemera for the collector of military memorabilia… right up there with the Appomattox Parole.  Our certificate is in excellent condition with no breaks and has only a few minor stains.  Fortunately this certificate was in a trunk for over 100 years, not seeing the light of day… therefore, no fading!  For the advanced collector, this is the HOLY GRAIL!
