Museum Quality Americana
While endorsements by Gen. George A. Custer can be obtained fairly easily (although not cheaply), an autograph of Custer on official “Head Quarters Third Division Cavalry Corps.” stationary is extremely rare and desirable! In fact, this is the only one we have seen in 20 years! This document is perfect for framing with a picture of Custer. In this request that Custer is making, he desires to have Major E. M. Pope, 8th NY Cav. appointed acting inspector Genl. of his Cav. Division. He signs it G. A. Custer Major General Commanding Division. This document dated November 14, 1864 comes at the end of a year of hard fighting for Custer. It is in excellent condition with only a few minor stains. It would be hard to find a nicer Custer!
