One of the First Newspaper Reports of the Custer Massacre, “Horrible Butchery!!” – From the Coldwater Semi-Weekly Republican, July 7th, 1876
Coldwater, Michigan was fairly close to Custer’s home in Monroe, Michigan. This is about the most complete and best coverage of the massacre that we have seen.

The article of course appears on the first page of the paper. The paper is complete and has been folded so that the article about Custer is perfect for display.

“HORRIBLE BUTCHERY!!
GEN. CUSTER, ALL HIS RELATIONS,
AND 315 MEN KILLED IN BATTLE.”

The best “first report” on Custer that we have seen.
