The Most Colorful Confederate Blockade Runner Bond: Charleston's Consolidated Steamship Co.

This colorful red and blue printed stock certificate has several interesting vignettes at its center.  Of all the various blockade runner bonds, the Consolidated Steamship Company had the most colorful with its red and blue printing and 2 interesting vignettes at its center.  The certificate dated December 15, 1864, is for 5 shares of Capital Stock made out to Mr. George W. Williams.  Williams was the famous Charlestonian, who was the builder of the outstanding Calhoun Mansion located on 16 Meeting Street in Charleston, South Carolina.  It was the largest privately owned home in Charleston and featured in many films.  The bond is in very fine condition with nice dark ink and no fading.  Worth $2,950!
