Col. Cilley 1st ME. CAV.

Col. Jonathon Prince Cilley was commissioned as a Captain in the famous 1st Maine Cavalry in October of 1861.  He fought with the 1st Maine throughout the entire war and was mustered out as a Brigadier General on 5/31/1865.  During his heroic leading he was wounded twice; first at Middletown, Virginia 5/24/62 and then again at Saint Mary’s Church, Virginia 6/24/1864.  The CDV is in excellent condition and we believe is singed in ink of the period by Cilley on the reverse (we have nothing to compare his signature to).  A great CDV for the Cavalry or Maine collector!
