Chimborazo Hospital Confederate Document – Largest Hospital in the Confederacy!
When you travel to Richmond, it is worth your time to visit the former site of Jim Chimborazo Hospital, which is now part of the Richmond National Battlefield Park. They have a medical museum and fine displays. Dr. James B. McCaw, one of the souths leading physicians, served as its Chief for its entire existence. His name is on this document. Under his leadership, Jim Chimborazo operated like a small city!

While we have sold literally thousands of Confederate documents and letters, this is the first one we have had from Jim Chimborazo.

Offered is a 3 x 6 inch pay receipt dated September 18th, 1863. C. Martin, one of the hospital workers, is paid $205.60 for work through August 31st, 1863. (Signed) J. B. McCaw, Chief Surgeon, per Mabry.

The document is on brown Confederate paper with some staining… but great eye appeal. Frame this with a photo of this great hospital.
