COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS

Rare Charleston, S.C. Under the Control of the British - Sept. 1st, 1790 -
British Major Issues Cannons & Shot for the Royal Artillery!

Here is a wonderful legal size document sending 18 pounder cannons “iron mounted on carriages and skids” along with lead paper cartridges shot and many other items “To Robert Pilmour, Master of the Fidelity Transport Ship, the same being for defense of said ship.”  The document is signed by P. Faille, Major Commanding the Royal Artillery.  The document is in nice dark ink and since it was on good British paper, it is in excellent condition.

For the Revolutionary War artillery enthusiast, the listing of materials is quite fascinating!  Under shot… 18 pounder they list “120 round loose” and also “16 grape quilted”… anyway read the list it’s quite interesting!

Along with this document we are including an early hand-colored map entitled, “Plan of the Siege of Charleston”… probably printed for a book in the 1800’s.  It will frame up beautifully with our Rev. war document!
