COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS
Cavalry Horses for Command of General Hampton

This document on Confederate paper is a “Certificate of Appraisement” appraising a horse owned by a citizen who “donated” the horse to Hampton’s Confederate Cavalry.  The citizen was reimbursed but of course it was in Confederate money which, at the time of this document, was not worth much.  A number of these Wade Hampton documents were found several years ago – most in very poor condition.  The piece we are offering is the finest condition document we have seen.  Wade Hampton was an amazing Confederate General of character who unselfishly furnished his own Legion.  This Hampton related document would frame nicely with a picture of the old warrior.  Condition is excellent.  The document is signed by Jeremiah J. Bunch, a Captain in Company A of Hampton’s South Carolina Legion Cavalry.
