Museum Quality Americana
A choice example of the very desirable Confederate “Rope Border” style buckle. Often times when excavated, these thin, stamped brass plates are bent or in pieces and rarely do they have any hooks attached. This buckle has a pleasing patina that is eye-catching and which makes the letters stand out. The plate is near perfect with the exception that the tip of one of the hooks has snapped off. The Rope Border Oval CS Buckle is much scarcer than most people realize and this is one of the finest examples we have seen in the last 20 years! It was excavated near Richmond, Virginia.
