THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS

Important Confederate Slavery Related Broadside, August 30th, 1861 Regarding
"Slaves Abducted or Harbored by the Enemy" - Crandall #50

This 8 ½ x 11 inch small broadside is entitled, “An Act to Perpetuate Testimony in cases of Slaves Abducted or Harbored by the Enemy, and of other Property Seized, Wasted, or Destroyed by them.  No. 270.”

When you check the Internet for this title, you find that the only other copy listed is in the collection of the University of Virginia Library.

The broadside is printed on a brownish Confederate paper and the previous owner wrote on the reverse in pencil, “Crandall #50, 5/84, Pd. 375–”  Since this is a slave related act we feel that it has great historical significance and if the owner paid $375 for this item 27 years ago, it has got to be worth that much today!
