Great Example of a Confederate Impressment Notice – South Carolina November 18th, 1864
This 5 x 8 inch notice written from the “Quarter Masters Office, CSA, So. Ca.” is printed on typical brown Confederate paper. It is addressed to Mr. Andrew Feaster, a plantation owner in Fairfield District in South Carolina. Mr. Feaster will be offered $3.00 per bushel of corn but if refused it will be impressed. The notice is signed by Capt. and Quarter Master A. M. Rhett (Rhett being a famous S.C. family name).
