CS "German Light Artillery" - Capt. Bachman, Hampton Legion
- HALF MOON BATTERY, CHARLESTON
Here is a nice early (August 31st, 1861) Charleston Artillery document. It is for stores transferred to Capt. William K. Bachman’s Half Moon Battery. The stores are being transferred by Capt. H. C. Guerin to Capt. Bachman and both men sign this document. The document is one page in nice ink and lists, “bacon, hard bread, rice, coffee, sugar, vinegar, candles, salt, and molasses”. We are including a number of pages of the military history of Bachman’s battery. At Gettysburg, Bachman’s battery operated with Hood on the right of Longstreet’s attack. Condition is fine with minor staining.
