Museum Quality Americana
Occasionally, you see a note signed by Burns written in 1866 or 1867 where he was sending his autograph to an admirer… but have you ever seen a Burns signed letter from August of 1863 when he was recovering from his wound? That is what we are offering! An amazing Burns signed note written from Gettysburg on August 24, 1863:
Dear Sir-
Your note of August 15 is at hand. Please accept my thanks
for your kind notice of my humble effort to serve my country. I am still
suffering from my wounds, but hope ere long to be able to be about.
I have no photographs of myself, and although poor, I hope to be able
when sufficiently recovered to have myself photographed and shall
cheerfully in such case forward you one –
I am very respectfully yours
John L. Burns
Condition of the letter is excellent! Be sure to look at the signed Burns CDV in our Prized Photos Category!
