COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS

"Strawberries for the Great United States Sanitary Fair at Philadelphia" - A Broadside
Requesting the Donation of Strawberries for the Troops with Prizes to be Given

This 7 ½ x 9 ½ inch broadside is mounted on an old album page that we found in a soldiers scrapbook.  Read the content in our photos… very interesting!  Commencing on June 7th, 1864 for 10 days the Sanitary Commission in Philadelphia was going to distribute “a number of Silver Fruit Knives with appropriate inscriptions as mementoes of the occasion.”

The broadside is brown from aging and there is discoloration from where it is attached to the album page.  It could easily be floated off, we will let the buyer decide whether to do that or not.  Some collectors like to keep items that were in soldiers albums on the original page.  Anyway, the broadside has great “eye-appeal”.  We have never seen anything like it!

If you happen to be the owner of one of the inscribed silver fruit knives, we will pay you $200 for it, or… you can buy our broadside to put with your knife!
