“A Gang of 97 Prime and Orderly Negroes” is the heading on this incredible slave sale broadside.  This piece came directly out of Charleston and is the finest content slave sale broadside that we have ever seen.  We have had several holes archivally repaired and it displays beautifully.   A slave buyer actually used this listing and made notations throughout the list.  Look at the scans carefully to catch all the amazing insights.   At the beginning of the broadside, it is mentioned that the Negroes “will be sold in families.”  The slave buyer has drawn a line separating each family.   He has made corrections as to names and also, occupations or skills.   An amazing piece!
