One could spend their lifetime looking for hard images of Union Cavalry soldiers holding the different Carbines that they used. In the past we have found several holding neat weapons that were sixth-plates. We heard about the image we are offering many years ago. It was the centerpiece of a famous collection in Massachusetts. We had heard that that collector had paid $12,000 to obtain this image. Another Cavalry collector was able to purchase this image and we obtained it from him. What we are offering is a full half-plate tintype of a Cavalry trooper that is triple armed! He is holding his M1860 Saber and Burnside Carbine and has his Colt Pistol stuck in his belt. The image is truly spectacular with only minor flaws and a ‘C’ shaped emulsion flaw that can only be seen when looking at an angle. The image is housed in a perfect thermo-plastic case that itself would cost $1,000. An excellent piece for the advanced Cavalry or image collector or museum!
