STOLEN 8/13/17  -  Pair of Anthony Stereoviews of the "Ruins of Central Hall, Charleston, S.C., Effects of the Great Fire in 1862" & the Ruins of the Circular Church & Secession Hall with Saint Michael's Church in the Background - Brady Negative

The first stereoview is a great view of the ruins of the Circular Church with Saint Michael’s Church in the background.  This is a yellow mount (earlier) stereoview in fine condition and “Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1865 by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co.” marking at the bottom.  The stereoview has good clarity and contrast and is in fine condition with the typical aging.  A wonderful view of historic Charleston devastated by fire and war!   Saint Michael’s Church served as an observation post lookout for the Confederacy to spot Union vessels coming into the harbor.

The second stereoview is on the early yellow mount shows the devastation of war and the Great Fire of 1861.  The stereoview has some staining and spots but is overall very good.  A rare view of historic Charleston!

#P268 – Price for the pair $150
