COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS
ALS S.C. Governor Pickens - Re. Columbia Arsenal

This letter was taken from the personal papers of

Governor Pickens before Columbia was burned by Sherman

on February 17th, 1865.  It was purchased by us at

auction from a descendant of the family!

In this ALS from Governor Pickens he writes Capt White at the Columbia Arsenal asking for a report on the arms and military equipment in the arsenal.  This is a nice frame-able one page letter from the Governor written on official “State of South Carolina, Head Quarters” Stationary on “June 28, 1861.”
