Autograph Letter Signed – Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, Signer of the Constitution of the United States of America, writes from Pinckney Island, Feb. 11th, 1817, regarding his need for lumber to complete the house he was building and mention that he had several hired carpenters who would be idle until the wood arrives.  The folded letter is addressed to “Messrs. Williamson & DeVillers, Savannah.  The Pinckney wax seal is still attached!  The letter is in fine condition.

Gentlemen,

            I embrace a chance opportunity to inform you that besides the 2,000 feet of
inch boards which I am in daily expectation of receiving from you, I shall be obliged
to you to send me by the first opportunity 6000 cypress shingles, a cask of about
100 lb. of six penny cut shingling nails, & 2000 feet more of inch board.  I remain
very respectfully,

                                C. J. Capt. Piece left last night 200 feet of white pine but I am in the greatest want
