Civil War Non-Excavated I.D. Disc or “Dog Tag” from the Famous “Scott’s 900 Cavalry” (11th New York Cavalry) – Milton W. Paine, FARRIER – And so marked on I.D.!
This Washington style dog tag, silver plated pewter, is in very fine condition with a strong stamping and 80% of the silver still remaining. In the I.D. Disc book by Maier & Stahl, this style is pictured on page 44.

The I.D. is stamped as following:
M. W. PAINE
CO. L.
FARRIER
SCOTT’S
WAR OF
1861
900 CAV.
BUFFALO, N.Y.

Cavalry I.D. discs are of course scarcer than Infantry, and this one, also giving the job/rank as “FARRIER” is especially desirable.
