COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS
8th Pennsylvania Cavalry "Camp near Petersburg" - October 1864

Two page letter in ink from Perry Miller, Company B of the 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry.  In this short letter, Perry tells his cousin that he spent a month in the hospital “and there they nearly starved me to death.”  They had him on what they called a “lite” diet.  Perry says it was too lite for him!  “It was 3 spoonfuls of rice, 3 swallers of tea, and a small piece of dry bread, and that I got 3 times a day.”

Perry goes on to complain he has written 5 letters and have not received any answer.  He signs the letter with his full I.D. “Perry Miller, Co. B, 8 Pa. Cav., Washington, D.C.”  Included is the original cover sent to “Liberty, Tioga Co., Pa.” with a stamped .3 cent Washington stamp.  Included also is a CDV of Perry in civilian clothes which is thrown in for free.
