One of the most famous Cavalry Regiments at Gettysburg was the 8^th Illinois which had been finally tuned by Brig. Genl. Elon John Farnsworth, who would be killed leading a charge there.  The ribbon we are offering was distributed to veterans of the 8^th at the 50^th Anniversary at the battle of Gettysburg, July 1, 1913.  The ribbon has bright colors and is not faded.  It has only one minor hole and is in overall fine condition.  On the reverse of the ribbon is printed “Compliments of John C. Ketcheson, Co. G. Sergt. – Maj., 8^th Illinois Vet. Cav., Leavenworth, Kansas.”  Obviously, this is a very rare and desirable ribbon.  It is the only one that we have ever seen!
