Document receiving a new stand of colors for the 78^th New York state Volunteers to replace their old flag.  The document is dated “Head Quarters 78^th Regiment near Murfreesboro, Ten. October 17, 1863” and signed by the Colonel who lead the 78^th at Gettysburg Herbert Von Hammerstein.  After their hard fighting at Gettysburg, they were immediately sent to Tennessee.  It was here that they received a new flag to replace their battle scared one.
