Discharge Signed by Col. Edward E. Cross, 5th New Hampshire Vols. - KILLED AT GETTYSBURG

Those of you who are Gettysburg collectors need no explanation about the heroism of Col. Edward E. Cross.  The one page document is signed by Cross in nice dark ink at the bottom.  The document certifies George R. Holden as disabled.  It is also signed by Capt. Ira McLBarton, who left the 5th N. H. after Gettysburg and became Col. of the 1st N. H. Heavy Artillery.

The 5th New Hampshire had the distinction of having the greatest loss of any Union regiment in the Civil War.  Their killed in action Colonel is truly a desirable autograph!
