Grouping of 3 Excavated “Flower” Buttons – Each with 90% Gold
These 3 have been in our private collection for many years... They served as amazing examples of the very commonly used type of button that Confederates would use when they could not obtain “official” I, A, or C buttons. We kept these 3 for their amazing appearance. All 3 came from the Cold Harbor area, east of Richmond. Each has a “Benedict & Burnham – Extra” backmark. The largest is 1 inch and 2 are ¾ inch. All 3 have nice loops. 1 of the buttons, the 1 that features a flower, is a 1-piece button with 95% gold. It had so much gold plating & came out of wonderful sandy soil, that it does not even look excavated.. but it is.

#E183 - Price for all 3  $75
