38th Indiana Infantry Stencil – Excavated Near Stones River, Tenn. Where He Was Killed
This stencil measures 1 ¾ x 3 inches and is in great condition for being excavated… no breaks or bends. All the lettering is crisp. The patina is beautiful. William Ballard enlisted in Co. K. of the 38th regiment of Indiana Volunteers on Oct. 27th, 1861. He was killed on December 31st, 1862 at the battle of Stones River, Tennessee. He is buried in the Stones River National Cemetery in Murfreesboro, Tenn., grave site L4594.
