Dated April 27th, 1861… just after firing on Fort Sumter the South Carolina Militia gets ready for war. The All Saints Riflemen were a colorful Militia group in Charleston. The note is addressed to Col. Manigault who was Ordnance Bureau Director in Charleston. Charles Alston served as Major of Manigault’s Battalion of Light Artillery.
