COMMEMORATING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR WITH

THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS
2nd N.Y. Heavy Art. - Marches through Richmond - Nice 2nd Corps Envelope

This nice little letter would be great for display as it has a colorful 2nd Corps, 1st Division illustrated cover.  The letter mentions marching through Richmond:

“We passed in review through Richmond on 3 of the principal streets –

was reviewed by Major General Meade.  We passed the Libby Prison

and Castle Thunder where the Rebs held our prisoners.”

Read the rest of this interesting little letter and nice cover!  It has a full I.D.: “Wesley H. Shaw, Company G, 2nd Regiment Heavy Artillery, 1st Division, 2nd Corps.”  Condition of the letter is excellent.  There are two tears on the bottom of the envelope, but the “Washington D.C.” cancelation and stamp are perfect!
