Spectacular 2nd Corps. Badge

Of all the Corps. Badges that we have had the privilege of owning over the past 40 years, this 2nd Corps. Badge that belonged to Benjamin Flood, Co. A, 71st Pennsylvania Infantry, is the most beautiful!  Flood enlisted in the 71st on July 1, 1861 and transferred into the 69th PA. 3 years later.  This means that without question, our Corps. Badge is of Civil War date (otherwise he would have had one made for the 69th).   The badge is sterling silver with a gold decorated rim.  The holding pin inscribed “Hancock” (after the Corps. Commander) still retains the “T” bar pin.  This Corps. Badge comes with a complete set of Flood’s records from the National Archives.  The badge retains an excellent patina and is in excellent condition.  An amazing piece that we consider to have a value in the $6,000 plus range!
