“Yours, C. Rand, Captain, 1^st Mass. Regt.” is the nice inscription in ink on the front of this CDV.  Charles E. Rand enlisted 5/22/61 as a Captain in Co. I of the 1^st Mass. Infantry.  He was killed on 5/2/63 at the Battle of Chancellorsville, Va.  The CDV is by “J. W. Black 173 Washington Street, Boston.”  Condition of the CDV is excellent with the exception that the photograph was not fully developed on the bottom portion around Captain Rand’s belly.  The rest of the photo is nice and dark.
